How to troubleshoot Failed to start Anchor Installation error?

Reasons for the error:

1. In rare scenarios Anchor agent uninstall might not remove all the services from the system. The user will see the below error if he tries to install a new version when the agent is in this state.
2. In rare scenarios Anchor agent install might get stuck. If the user reboots the PC in this state and then tries to install a new version he will see the below error.



Solution:

This issue can be resolved by following the below steps:

1) Open the command prompt in admin mode and run the following commands one by one. If you do not have admin permissions then please contact your administrator.

Note: If services are present, you will see the DeleteService SUCCESS message on the command prompt. 
           If services are not present, you will see DeleteService FAILED message on the command prompt. Please go ahead with the next command as it is a valid message.
  1. sc delete datanchordt2
  2. sc delete datanchords2
  3. sc delete datanchorsupport
  4. sc delete datanchorisolate
  5. sc delete datanchorfilter
  6. sc delete datanchordaemon
  7. sc delete fesfpolicy
  8. sc delete datanchorscanner
  9. sc delete datanchorspyder
  10. sc delete datanchorexec
  11. sc delete datanchorbackup
  12. sc delete datanchormi













2) Delete the datanchor folder located at C:\Program Files\DAtAnchor Client

3) Delete datanchor registries
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DAtAnchor
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\DAtAnchor



4) Reboot the system.

5) Install the Anchor agent by following the steps in this link: https://help.anchormydata.com/portal/en/kb/articles/anchor-agent-installation-instruction
