Anchor Files in Egnyte

This article explains how to anchor files using Egnyte.

Users can Anchor (encrypt) files using Egnyte. Anchored files will be given default access rules (rules that must be satisfied) in order to be consumed.

Egnyte Web 
Users can access Egnyte using the web interface.

How to Anchor Files Using Egnyte Web

Step 1: Go to Egnyte's shared folder and find the unencrypted file you would like to encrypt. Right Click on the unencrypted file and select 'Secure with Anchor.'

 


Step 2: You will be redirected to a new window, letting you know your file has been successfully Anchored.

Note: Only files can be Anchored/unAnchored on Egnyte's web interface. You can Anchor/unAnchor both files and folders on Egnyte Connect.


Egnyte Connect

Users with Egnyte Connect (Z drive) will have access to files on their endpoint machines. This will allow for native consumption of protected content.  

How to Anchor Files in Egnyte Connect


Step 1: Inside the Egnyte Connect Shared folder, create a new folder and add unencrypted files to it. 


Step 2: Right click and Anchor the folder by selecting 'Anchor,' Anchor My Data,' and 'Add Protection and Anchor My Files' (highlighted options).



Step 3: You will see a notification that lets you know your files are Anchored. Notice an anchor icon has been added to the files. This tells the user that the files are encrypted.
